Nexi/Kira safety and ethics agent

This project expands the idea of diversity beyond race, culture, and language to include neurodiversity and differences in communication style.

It is based on the idea that people do not all communicate in the same way. Some people write very little, give fragmented input, speak out of order, use unusual wording, or struggle to express what they mean clearly. For example, a person with ADHD may communicate in a nonlinear way, an autistic person may give a short literal answer that still carries important meaning, and a person with bipolar disorder may express values differently depending on their phase.

The test explored whether Nexi/Kira can adapt to these different communication patterns and respond in a more inclusive and tailored way. It also considered safety: some users may intentionally probe, manipulate, or test the system, so the design includes persona cards that help the agent recognize and respond safely to those patterns.

Comment

The deliverable is non-technical and was inspired by Esther’s Nexi safety and ethics project.
